Project 2- Vibrating Edges

This is my project dealing with vibrating edges. The colors are very trippy on my eyes so I can clearly see the edges of the shapes vibrating. I feel like the repeating background really helps with this idea too.

Munsell Advancing and Receding Colors

I gathered chips from previous charts to make this. I can clearly see how the warm colors are brought closer while the cool colors appear farther away, just as the textbook said, demonstrated by this quote from the book: "When cool colors are placed next to or surrounding warm colors, the warm appear to be closer to the viewer (to advance) whereas the cool hues appear farther away (to recede).

In this exercise, I followed the instructions and noticed that when I stared at the colors, they did indeed begin to turn gray. I also noted the afterimage of the colors and how it made them appear more vivid and I found that interesting because that's something I did not know before.

Monochromatic Painting and Color Wheel

This is my painting. I chose these colors because it's the color I used on my color wheel layout. Because I'm not good with using color in different tints and shades, already having a reference that I created made doing this painting a lot easier. I also chose this color because I think it has a nice Valentine feel to it, and considering Valentine's Day is approaching us, I felt it was only appropriate.

Below is my color wheel chart, which displays gray scale and the tints and shades scale I used for my painting.

Munsell Color Charts

Putting together these charts helped me understand color a little more. Some pieces are missing on some of the charts, but I was able to make it work. All in all I've learned more about value and chroma by doing this exercise than I would have on my own.
